NOTICE OF RACE
1st JULY 2009 - 30th JUNE 2010
Davey's Bay Yacht Club races will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Prescriptions and Special Regulations of Yachting Australian (YA) Addendum 'A' Part 2.
In accordance with the definition of 'Off the Beach Boats' contained in the definitions of the prescriptions and special regulations of YA (Yachting Australia) Part 2 and the YA - Interpretations & dispensations of YA Special Regulations: "Small keelboats & trailables racing as 'Off the Beach Boats' "ť, Flying Fifteens whilst racing in club events are required to sail under the regulations of Part 2. This includes proceeding to and from the course area.
2. Entries
Eligible boats may be entered by completing registration with the organising authority. Eligibility requirements for boats are that they are a recognised class and meet that class associations measurement requirements. Eligibility requirements for competitors are that the skipper must be a member of the Davey's Bay Yacht Club for a boat to be included in the results of Club events. Members of other affiliated Yacht Clubs are welcome to race in Davey's Bay Yacht Club events.
3. Schedule of Races
Club races are scheduled as per the Davey's Bay Yacht Club sailing program issued for each sailing season.
4. Measurement
Measurement checks may be made in accordance with class rules at any time during the season.
5. Scoring
The Low Point scoring system, RRS Appendix A, will apply, modified so that each boat's series score will be the total of her race scores with her worst scores discarded as per the table shown in the Sailing Instructions for the Club major aggregate and championship.
For the Club major aggregate and championship 3 races must be completed to constitute a series. For the Spring and Autumn series 2 races must be completed to constitute a series. Where more than 2 races are completed for a Spring or Autumn series a boat's worst result will be discarded.
6. Electronic Communication
A boat, whilst racing, shall neither make nor receive Electronic Communications unless they are Electronic Communications available to all boats.
7. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded for each series at the discretion of the Sailing Committee.
8. Liability
It is the Competitor's decision to enter club events or to start in any race. Competitors shall accept that their participation in the club's racing programme is at their sole exclusive risk in every respect. By way of entry to the club competitors shall indemnify Davey's Bay Yacht Club Inc., their officers, members, servants and agents in respect of all claims and demands of whatever nature which may be made upon them in connection with or howsoever arising from their participation or intended participation in the club's racing programme.
Competitors shall acknowledge that sole responsibility for the suitability of the boat and equipment lies with the competitor and that Davey's Bay Yacht Club Inc., their officers, members, servants and agents accept no responsibility in respect of loss of life, personal injury or loss or damage to property which may be sustained by reason of their participation or intended participation in the club’s racing programme or howsoever arising in connection with this event.
The competitor's attention is drawn to ISAF Fundamental Rule 4.
9. Insurance
All boats shall have third party insurance cover of not less than $AUD 1,000,000 (recommend $AUD 10,000,000, or the equivalent thereof in any other convertible currency) for any accident. All owners / competitors who enter club races are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover. Owners / competitors not holding this cover shall withdraw from all racing. The skipper of each boat must be able to display proof of cover if requested to do so.
